Getting close to Kye’s 1st Birthday I decided to go back and read a little of the blog that I so abruptly stopped writing. I am in complete disbelief that almost a year later we are sitting here about to celebrate Kye’s 1st Birthday. I have no clue and can’t not understand how Mikie and I got through those first 3 months of Kye’s life. The most challenging thing we have ever been through. Never did we imagine after trying to hard to get pregnant we would be faced with a premature baby who was on oxygen and an apnea montior. I look at Kye now and still can not believe he was as small as a little over 2lbs at one point. He is truly a miracle. We are so blessed he is such a healthy baby boy. He continues to amaze us everyday when we look at him in those beautiful blue eyes. I will never be able to wrap my brain around how we have survived everything we’ve been through…. I just know without God and many prayers from family and friends we would have never been able to. I believe Mikie and I have done everything we can to truly take in every moment of everyday we spend with Kye. I know we will continue to do this. We try not to wish for the next milestone or say we can’t wait for him to do something…because in all honestly I can wait!!! I don’t want him to grow up. He is my baby and always will be our one and only. Our little miracle, our Klove, our Bubba Love, Our Bubba, Our lil BMF, Our lil Mikie, Our Tank, Our KyeKye and mommas lil man. Kye, You have no idea how much daddy and I love you. I pray to God that one day you will completely understand how deep our love is for you. Happy 1st Birthday My sweet Angel

Mikie's Birthday/Kye's One day old
October 17th 2010
Mikie’s birthday!!! While in the recovery room on the 16th I talked to Cher. I was so concerned that about Mikie’s birthday cake that I had ordered. Cher offered to pick it up for me. We were able to have birthday cake on Mikie’s birthday !
I was able to see Kye in the NICU for the 1st time. This sweet precious little baby who I could not hold, touch or even talk to was ours. I had to stand there and just look at him. Never in my life did I ever think we would be standing there looking at our new born son who was 10 weeks early. My heart was completely broken. All of the ideas I had on how I wanted things to go and how wonderful it would be were just completely broken. You carry this child inside you for so long. You bond with them. You are so used to feeling them move inside you and all of a sudden it’s completely taken away in a blink of an eye.
Once we get back to the room Dr. Cone came by to check on me. He was completely amazed and in awe that I was alive. He was not on call the 16th so that is why Dr.Ball did the c-section. He said that in his 25 years of practicing he has only heard of a ruptured uterus twice. Both times were not one of his patience. One of these women did not make it. Dr. Cone said that I formed a blood clot after my uterus had ruptured. He said “we got lucky and some one was looking out for me and not ready for me to go yet.” I could have bled to death is what he said. I did however bleed quite a bit internally but because my body clotted long enough for them to do the surgery Kye and I were saved. It is all because of GOD. He was not ready to see us leave this earth. Nor did he want Mikie to lose his entire family in a split second. I saw Dr. Cone every day while I was in the hospital and he continued to be amazed and stressed the issue that we were alive.

I actually wrote these entries while Kye was in the hospital..... I just read them again for the first time in a year and I decided to post... Praise God, we are SO blessed.

It’s absolutely amazing what a wonderful pregnancy I had up until this point. I am still re-playing it all in my mind over and over. I just can’t believe it all happen so fast.
At 3 am I woke up feeling a little cramping. I thought it was possibly gas pains or constipation. By 4 am I was out of bed in the living room walking around hoping this little bit of pain would subside. At 7am I started to get concerned. The pain was getting much worse and I wasn’t sure what was going on. I spoke with my sister and she said it could be a kidney stone so I should go to the hospital because it could cause me to go into labor. At this point I had already called the afterhours line with my doctor and left my info for a nurse to call back. The pain begins to get worse and Mikie wakes up. I call my sweet neighbor Amanda and she suggest I go to the hospital immediately because it could be a kidney stone or worse. We get dressed and get out the door. So concerned Mikie wouldn’t get to eat for a while I literally made him pull over at Morning Kolache’s to get him some food. As we are driving I call the afterhours line and let them know we are on the way to the hospital. The nurse said she would contact them and let them know we were coming.
We get to the hospital and they get me in a room and hook me up to monitor the baby. He was doing just fine but I sure wasn’t. They did ultrasound on my kidneys and everything seemed to look ok. It took them 4 times before they could get an IV started on me. Finally had to get the anesthesiologist to do it. The pain got so bad I started to vomit. At this point they started to give me pain medication. I really have no clue how much they gave me but I was drugged pretty good. I don’t remember a lot of my surrounding but I do remember the important details. Kye’s heartbeat started to drop. It would be really high then drop really low. Dr. Ball started to get very concerned. She went and got another doctor to get her opinion. This other doctor who I don’t know her name came in and looked me straight in the eyes and said “If we do not take your baby right now he will die.” Those are words no mother to be who has tried for 4 ½ years and finally did IVF wants to hear. I was so drugged but I remember turning my head to look at Mikie trying to focus on his face. All I could do is stare. I couldn’t speak. Within seconds there was nurses all over the place asking questions, getting signatures and getting me ready for emergency c-section.
We get to the operating room and I am so drugged and still feeling pain. They prep me for the epidural. It barely felt like a pinch because I was so medicated. Now the doctors still have no idea what is going on with me they just know Kye is under stress and needs to come out. They were thinking it was something with my placenta which is a “normal” thing that can happen. They lay me down on the table and bring Mikie in. They let me know that there will be some pressure on my chest area but not to be alarmed. Looking back I am very thankful for all the pain medication before hand. I really have no idea mentally and emotionally how I would have dealt with all this. The doctor’s are doing the c-section and I hear one of them say “Wow, so that’s what happen.” Mikie stands up to look over the curtain. I still can’t believe he looked and saw all of my insides out on display. Well, there is was…the answer to why I was hurting so bad. My uterus ruptured. They get Kye out and rush him away with barely enough time for Mikie to snap a photo with his iphone. Yes, we went to the hospital but no way did we expect to have our baby. Not 10 weeks early especially. In the recovery room they wheeled Kye in to us once they had him hooked up to oxygen. I remember putting my hand into the isolete and him grabbing my finger. Mikie says his name and he turns his head with those big eyes and looks at us. Then they wheel him away.
That day I was still so medicated that I don’t remember much. I couldn’t cry or really understand what just happened. The next day however was different once reality set in.

Week 29 & Week 30
Week 29
Mikie left again… this time to St.Louis. Luckly he came back on Thursday! Hopefully he won’t have to leave anymore for a while!
The baby shower is this weekend. My sister worked so hard getting all of them addressed and mom mailed them off. Unfortunately I would write a hate letter to the Post office but they probably somehow wouldn’t get it! I have found out so far that 10 people have not received their invite. However it’s a little late in the game for people to try to come when they are just finding out! I am sad that so many people won’t be able to make it and that who knows how many other’s never received an invite.
Next week is the carpet install and the tv/sound system install. I am BEYOND ready to get this carpet in the house so that I can order all Kye’s furniture and get this thing rolling!!!!! Now, this weekend is going to be insane getting all the lose items moved into the racecar trailer until the carpet is put it. Trying not to stress but we have a loooooong weekend and week ahead of us!
Well…..found out Mikie has to leave Monday for Georgia but he comes home Thursday. UGH!!!!!! So aggravating but it’s his job……..
Friday we went 90 to nothing moving the refrigerator into the garage to have room for the new one that was delivered on Saturday. We also started boxing things up for the carpet install next week. The new refrigerator is SO AWESOME! My project next week is to move everything from the old one to the new one.
Saturday I was up at 7 am and non-stop until 8:30 pm. My entire body hurts! Started boxing up things and then my shower was at 2. It was very well. So very thankful for the wonderful friends and family and their generosity!
Week 30
Mikie had to go out of town to Georgia. Sort of a last minute trip. Carpet was being installed this week. Pretty stressful week but the carpet looks and feels amazing! Mikie came home Thursday and TV install was Friday. Friday was crazy because he thought Stray got loose but luckly she was just hiding. Friday night we watched Iron Man 2 and just chilled! Then Saturday happened…..

Week 28
Week 28
September 28th
Doctor appointment went well with Dr. Cone. I weighed as soon as I went in…I really wish they would leave this part out!! He went over my results for my follow up pap smear. Everything was still the same but the good news is nothing was worse! He asked if anything big was going on and I simply commented “beside me…nothing”. He laughed and insisted that I was an adorable pregnant woman. Kye’s heartbeat was strong as always! Everything is looking great!
Saturday Mikie and I went to our 1st baby class at Texas Women’s! It was called Life with Baby. We learned so much! I really never thought we would learn as much as we did. I was very glad she talked about circumcisions because I know nothing about them. And now I know exactly what to expect! Mikie was so awesome in the class. Changing the baby doll’s diaper and giving him a pretend bath! Mikie seriously is the swaddle master! I didn’t do near as good a job as he did. It was like he had done it a million times! He asked questions that were really good. I was SO PROUD to have him there with me and that he was my husband. I felt bad for the lady next to us who’s husband at one point used the baby doll as a pillow to nap a bit. We had such a great time together in this class. At one point while we were watching a video on ways to calm your crying baby I got the giggles so bad I thought I might have to excuse myself from class! Half way through the class I get a text message from Mikie telling me how much this class was making him excited about Kye. It was definitely a bonding experience for us and I am so glad we went! Our next class is the Breast feeding class. He is going with me so that he can totally support me and encourage me through it! Gosh I love him so much!
Kye has been getting the hiccups lately here and there. Before I could only feel them inside and not on the outside. Now, I can feel them on the outside! Mikie got to feel them! It’s the cutest thing ever!!!!!!

26 & 27 weeks

Week 26
Well week 26 started with a melt down! My sciatic nerve eased up so I decided to workout at the gym. Well, on the way there from work I start feeling insecure and debated on going. Mikie called and encouraged me so I ended up going to the gym. Ofcourse as soon as I got home he was smiling and saying he was proud of me for going and how he thinks I am so beautiful. I broke down crying. I don’t feel beautiful. I think my belly is beautiful but my thighs, butt and face are chubby. He basically told me I was being extremely too hard on myself and really needed to relax. He really is simply amazing and I love him beyond what words can describe. Wednesday Mikie flew out to St. Louis for the day for work. In the middle of the day I get this text from him “ I love ya’ll more than my next breath”. My heart completely melted. I decided to walk around the block since my security blanket wouldn’t be at the gym tonight. Well low and behold my sciatic nerve started acting up. I still finished my measly little mile but there were tears when I was done. After a nice warm bath I felt a little better. Dang nerve!!!! Mikie was able to feel Kye moving around! He has felt him kick but finally got to feel him moving like a maniac. Such an awesome moment!
We registered for 2 classes at Texas Womens. Infant care class and the breast feeding class. One is Oct 2nd and the other is the 23rd. We also finally picked out the carpet we want and have it scheduled to be done the week of October 11th. The baby shower is on the 9th. Mikie’s Birthday is the 17th. Michelle’s Bachlorette party is the 23rd. October is going to be jam packed. I have no clue when Kye’s room is going to get finished. Trying SO HARD not to stress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did a maternity photoshoot with Laurie on Sunday. She is starting her own photography business and wanted to do a shoot with me. It went great and can not wait to see the pics!
Mikie left Monday the 20th for Michigan again. He will be back Thursday THANK GOD!

Mikie is in Michigan again….. He came home Thursday. I hate him leaving. Time is going so fast. I had anxiety on Friday and literally nothing brought it on. I have too much going through my head I suppose. This coming Friday the 1st will be my co-worker Kathleen’s last day before her surgery. She will be out for 4 weeks. I have been completely fine up until now about it. I have so much going on in my personal life trying to get ready for baby and now work it just going to be adding to it. Way too much of an overwhelming feeling.
Saturday was Lauren’s 1st birthday party. I can’t believe she is already 1! We had a great time at her party!
We found Kye’s curtains at Target. Just need to measure to see what size we need to get. We also went to Lowe’s and got some samples for painting. We will have to wait until the carpet is install before we can decide. Still trying to find the right lamp for Kye’s room. We are adding the checkered flags to it so I have to find the right one so we can drill in it!
Went to Walmart on Sunday morning and as I am in the restroom messing with my eye in the mirror this lady walks in. She says very loudly “OMG I thought you were going to go into labor”. I literally just turned and stared at her. Seriously lady….I AM NOT THAT BIG 1st of all and 2nd of all if I was hunched over moaning than by all means you can think I was going into labor. Then, Monday at work this guys says “Please don’t go into labor today, I don’t know how to deliver a baby.” Now, I let him off the hook since I like him and work well with him but still……. And to top off Week 27, I went to the gym and some little teenie bopper little boy say “WHOOW” when I walked by. I almost turned around and gave him a lesson in hormonal pregnant women….but I didn’t think he could handle me! Most important….I can’t hide the fact I am pregnant and don’t want to! My belly is big and that means our precious baby Kye is growing like he is supposed to! God is so amazing!

25 Weeks
September13th
Week 25
Mikie came home today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOOO excited and happy to see him. I wish he never had to leave again!!! He of course was amazed at my growing belly! Went and got my hair done Tuesday night. Decided to dye it all brown again. Of course I am soooo pale that I need a tan so I don’t look washed out. Had my 25week appointment with Dr. Cone on Wednesday. I told him about my gallbladder and he said we would just keep an eye on it. Obviously avoid the foods that trigger it. I did the glucose testing for gestational diabetes and my results came back just fine! Although it did make me a little crazy from all the sugar! Dr. Cone did my follow up pap smear to check on the pre-cancerous cells but I haven’t heard back on the results yet. Unfortunately had to cancel pictures with Laurie for this weekend. So much going on it was stressing me out! But luckily we re-scheduled for next weekend! Still a busy weekend but will be able to do it without the stress! We ordered a pretty bra and panties set online tonight that I think I will feel very comfortable in! So, I am very excited about the pics!
Now that Mikie is home I guess the fact that we are having a baby sorta hit me again. We have so much to do and I feel like we are running out of time! I know everything will fall into place but I am having issues really believing that!

23 & 24 weeks!
August 31st
Week 23
So Mikie is back in Michigan and it’s me and the kitties again. Decided to focus on working out and trying to keep my mind occupied. So many things to do to get ready for Kye. Things were going good until Thursday….my sciatic nerve was killing me. So bad I had a hard time walking that night. However, I still had to wash litter boxes. So I decided to just go ahead and make the move…….the room the litterboxes are in is going to be Kye’s room so I moved the litterboxes to the other spare room. Hope the kitties don’t get too mad at me!
I have been working on the baby shower list, and getting the registry somewhat done. Devon and I went to Babies R Us Friday night. What a huge help she has been!
Really been wanting coffee everyday and milk. I have been making decaf at work so I am not consuming too much caffeine. Just very ready for Mikie to come home. I am trying very hard to stay in good spirits.
September 6th
Week 24
This week I feel like a blowfish. Huge swollen blowfish! I have been down about it but trying so hard to keep reminding myself that Kye is the reason for all this and that is all that matters. Never imagined I would have this much of an issue gaining weight. I even looked online at Baby Center at the photos of other pregnant women to make myself feel better. Kye is moving around like crazy! Cher and Kathleen got to feel him! So very cool. Mikie is still in Michigan but he told me tonight that he will be home Tuesday of next week!!! I can’t wait to wrap my arms around him!!!!!! I found a shower dress!!! It’s so pretty and blue! I will have to have it altered but I am so excited. I also searched for a cute bra and panties set for my maternity photo shoot with Laurie next weekend…..lets just say that was a disaster and ended in tears.
I have still been dealing with the pain of my sciatic nerve and also get to add gallbladder pains. I have been having some pain from my gallbladder for a while but didn’t realize that’s what it was. I hurt on my back right shoulder blade area. My sis swore this is what it is but I thought it was just back pains. Then I started to realize after dinner or even during dinner it’s starts to hurt. It has been pretty bad about 3 nights so far and the rest has been manageable. I will tell Dr. Cone at my appointment this week so he is aware. The count down is on for Mikie to be home! He is going to be amazed to see my belly again!

Week 21 & 22
August 23rd
Week 21 & 22
My oh my how the time is flying by. I continue to feel blessed everyday for this experience. Skippy came by and we discussed the paintings he will do in Kye’s room. We are so excited that a friend will be able to add that special touch to his room. Went to babies r us again! That place seriously never gets old.
I had my 22 week doctor appointment on my Birthday. Everything looks good. Got to hear Kye’s heartbeat again. Since Mikie is out of town and hasn’t heard it I recorded it on my phone. The sweetest sound ever! Dr. Cone assured me that my weight gain was good and healthy. He gave information on the glucose test I will take at my next appointment. I now will see him every 3 weeks instead of 4. My belly is definitely growing and he reminded me that I will probably look full term at 7months! Obviously because there is no where for Kye to go but out! He also said at my next appointment or the following appointment we would do another pap to check on the pre-cancerous cells.
I may not always feel like a hottie but I can tell you that my husband sure thinks I am. Friday the 20th will have made 3 weeks we haven’t seen each other. I have missed him terribly. I have been sending him pictures of me and my belly on his phone so he can see his wife and baby growing together. He was able to come home on my birthday the 19th. His flight landed at 10:35pm. I could barely wait for him to get home! You would really think he was gone for months. We had the best mini-vacation together. All we did was eat and chill! No house work no normal responsibilities just enjoying each others company. I am so extremely blessed to have such an amazing man by my side. He works so hard to provide for us…his family. I have been feeling Kye move around constantly! I don’t think that little boy every stops. But, I will say every time Mikie put his hand on my belly and started talking to him he would stop moving! Maybe he was concentrating on what his daddy was saying! I read all my books with Mikie on what stage of growth he is at and the book said that if you hold a flash light to your belly more than likely he will try to move away from the light. So, as curious as I was ,and how bad I wanted Mikie to feel him move before he left again, we tried! I held the flash light on the right side of my belly because I know without a doubt that is where his little eyes are. (he favors the right side since day one) Mikie put his hand on the left side of my belly and what do you know…..it worked!!!!! Poor little guy started kicking and Mikie got to feel him!!! Absolutely amazing and such a special moment for us to share. Unfortunately Mikie flew out again this morning back to Michigan. I miss him so much already. Our home is not the same without him. This experience of pregnancy has made me fall more deeply in love with him. More than I ever thought possible.

20 weeks!!!
August 3rd
20 Weeks
Half way to meeting Kye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not believe it!!!!!!!!!!!! Where has the past 20 weeks gone!?!?!?! Mikie is still gone. I miss him so very much. We are trying to figure out if I will fly out to see him or if he will be able to come home for a couple days. I keep sending photos so he can see the baby bump grow.
All I seem to want these days is sweets. Nothing else sounds appetizing at all. My sister went with me to Babies R Us to start registering for little items that Mikie won’t care about. I have been spending much time in Babies R Us lately! I am so thankful for my sister, Natalie and Devon right now. They have been my support group on what we need for Kye! Can not imagine not having them, I would be lost!!!
MawMaw Glorioso came in town and it was so nice to see her. She gave Kye these little booties that are white crochet and just the sweetest little things ever! My sweet neighbor Amanda gave him a swim shirt that has a skull on it! Could not be more appropriate! My sis has given us so much stuff that she used for Lauren and that were unisex. Gosh, we are so grateful for everyone caring so much! I bought 2 hats for Kye. I want to buy everything right now but keep telling myself to stop!!!
I have been feeling pretty good lately besides being sad Mikie isn’t here. I touched base with Peggy’s childcare and gave them Kye’s name and made sure all was ok for him to start!
Feel so blessed that every day I feel him moving inside me. I told Mikie the other day I swear Kye was either wrestling the umbilical cord or acting like it was a punching bag! Mikie said he was probably swinging from it! LOL I can’t wait to see his sweet face.

19 weeks :)
July 27th
Week 19
Almost to the half way point! This is flying by so fast for me. Everywhere I turn there is something somehow reminding me of this little boy that will be here before we know it! He is definitely reminding me as well that he exist with all the movement! I absolutely love feeling him, no other feeling in the world like it. Dr. Cone said the Placenta is in the back so I would feel much more of his movements! I keep wondering what he will look like. Such a little blessing!
Mikie had to leave town this week for a oil spill in Michigan. He left Friday morning. I cried Thursday night, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I miss him so much. We have been inseparable for so long that it is so hard not having him with me. I think he informed all of my friends to make sure I feed his son while he was away because it seems that all I have done is eat! I am trying not to have anxiety about the projects of getting the house ready for Kye. It’s hard not to have a little without Mikie here. It will all get done at some point! I just keep reminding myself how blessed we are. I am BEYOND ready for Mikie to come back home!!!!
I have been peeing A LOT recently. I am sure that is because Kye is growing bigger! Ice cream is all I seem to want. I really would eat it 24/7 if I could right now!

Kye Love Sopczak (18weeks)
July 21st
Kye Love Sopczak
It’s a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today was the day….FINALLY! We went in for the ultra sound and got to see our precious little boy. I of course started crying my eyes out because I was so overjoyed! Mikie had said all along it was a boy. I wasn’t sure, I didn’t have any gut feelings about it. Now, my mom thought it was a girl. She was shocked when we called her and told her the news but very excited. My dad was thrilled as well. This is the 1st grandson for them and the first grandchild for Mikie’s mom! I really don’t think I can describe in words how I am feeling. Beyond happy and I can’t help but smile. We are going to have a little man in our home! Mikie and I talked from 6:30-10 pm about baby Kye. What will he be like? What foods will he like? What will he look like? What sports will he want to play? What girls will he like? (oh my) We talked about everything from circumcision to wedding! We are on Cloud 9! Wait… make that Cloud 10! It’s amazing how much more real things are now. We are having a baby! Not only a baby but a baby boy and his name is Kye. Ofcourse Grandma Barbara already went out and purchased ½ of the store Carter’s! Mom, Dad, Ashlyn and Lauren came by to give us all the fun stuff for Kye. Again, it became much more real for Mikie and I. I also finally got to buy something! I bought him a vintage looking shirt that has a 1969 mustang on the front! Couldn’t be more perfect! Also bought a shirt that has a race car on the front and says race car! I will be ordering the baby bedding in the next couple days which of course will be a race car theme. We are going to paint the walls soon and order the furniture! Sooooooo much to do!
Kye Love Sopczak- the meaning behind the name
Mikie and I have had lots of time in 4 ½ years of trying to conceive to think of names for our children. It was important to us to have meaning behind the names we chose.
Kye- Mikie had a brother who passed away in a motorcycle accident when Mikie was 3 or 4. Mikie was young yet remembers very well. His brother’s name was Russell Kye Sopczak. We decided on Kye in remembrance of his brother.
Love- Mikie’s sweet grandpa passed away almost 2 years ago. His name was William Love Ellis. We thought the middle name Love was perfect for Kye. We know his grandpa is smiling in heaven knowing we are having a little boy and using his middle name.
Such an emotional time in our lives. Knowing we will bring a baby boy into this world and raise him to be a wonderful man. My heart melts just thinking of all the new fun things I will learn with Kye. We will do our absolute best to raise a God Loving, smart, respectful, patriotic young man. Mommy loves you Kye.

17 weeks!
July 13th
17 weeks
Week 17! Watch out… I actually think I look pregnant for the 1st time! Although dude from the gym looked amazed when I said I was pregnant. Guess he was thinking beer belly. Also had someone tell me that since I wore some maternity pants people won’t think I look fat anymore. LOL . I am pretty much embracing the comments for what they are now. I still find them rather funny! My belly has really grown this week. Mikie keeps smiling and saying “you are so pregnant!“ Hahaha! We are both extremely excited about the 21st!!!!! Boy or Girl?!?!?!?! Talked to Mikie’s mom on the phone and she swears it’s a girl just like my mom!
Finally went shopping with Ashlyn and my mom. Found some items at Burlington Coat Factory , Motherhood and Ross! I shopped from 10:30-6 and got 6 items!Thank goodness for the chic at Motherhood this time. Different Motherhood than last time. She was heaven sent. And they actually carry petite pants!!! I was so thrilled! Although I need way more than I bought atleast it was a start. I did get Marble slab! And Tiramisu!
Cravings: Milk, Icecream and now all of a sudden Pizza. The cravings seem a little stronger right now than before which is weird. I thought they faded away after a while?? I am still eating cereal every morning. Lucky Charms, Kashi and now Captain Crunch! I still refuse to buy icecream and keep it at home. I would eat it all in a matter of days. I will control myself to just do once a week. So far it’s working!

16 weeks!
July 7th
16weeks!!!
16 week pregnant!!! 4 months and embracing the bump! I still need clothes bad but making do with what I have until I can actually find some that fit! Motherhood trips wasn’t the greatest. After telling the chic I just wanted to look she insisted on helping me. She kept saying we needed to figure out what size I was. Ok Seriously? I am 4 foot 11 and petite…….Probably need an extra large lady….. Well she finally figured out I was a size small and grabbed everything she could find! I skipped over many of the items she pulled because I will pass on looking like I am 80 thank you very much! And the rest of it was too big still. A bit frustrating but no major meltdown just a little one! HAHA! So for now the bellyband and a couple of items my sweet neighbor Amy gave me will have to do. Been having a little bit of lower back pain and major sinus headaches. I finally broke down and took something for my sinus that my doctor said was ok. I felt guilty but said a little prayer that baby would be ok. I was laying in bed the other night and felt 2 flutters!! I am still patiently waiting for it to happen again! I saw doctor Cone today. I did the 2nd part of the blood work for downs. The nurse weighed me……….no comment! She then takes out this little instrument and says “Oh we haven’t done this yet” She asks me to lay back and at this point I ask what the heck is she gonna do. We are going to listen to the baby’s heartbeat!!! Baby was all the way on the right side. That little heartbeat was just a beating away! I was in such awe and overwhelmed with joy and then I realized Mikie wasn’t with me to experience this. I wish I had known and he would have come. I was so very bummed out and so was he. The heartbeat definitely reminded me that I was in fact pregnant. Besides a few ache pains and cravings I would never know I was pregnant. I feel very blessed by the lack of horrible symptoms but very eager to actually “feel” pregnant! Dr. Cone came in and measured me. He assured me that in the next 4-6 weeks there was going to be no hiding that I am pregnant. Although I can’t hide it now! Two weeks and we find out if it’s a boy or girl! OMG I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God for this opportunity!!!!! I have to say AGAIN that I am married to the most amazing man ever. He told me that I was such a beautiful pregnant woman the other day and many other very sweet sweet things. I am so blessed.
Cravings: Milk, and ice cream. I haven’t given in to the ice cream yet but I will very soon!

15 weeks!!!
June 29th
15 weeks!
Today I am 15 weeks!!! Could not feel more blessed. I am sure many people read my Pregnancy Rant from last week. And….apparently many did not! LOL Few more comments have been made but I definitely realize this is not going to change!! I have an appointment next week and I certainly can not wait to see the doctor. Mainly for him to remind me again I am pregnant!!! I feel like this is a dream sometimes. Had another melt down. I feel so guilty having these melt downs but between hormones and body changes it’s kinda hard not to. Thank GOD I have such an amazing husband. I broke down because I am so insecure right now and just feel fat really. I know it sounds vain but I worked so hard to get fit and in shape and now I am just soft all over. Mikie really put things into perspective for me. He told me to enjoy every moment of this because it could be a once in a lifetime chance. Wow…. This statement really made me open my eyes. Seriously what have I been thinking? I am carrying a child, our child for the 1st time in our lives. Who cares if I don’t have a flat stomach and you can’t see my muscles anymore. There is a precious GIFT of life growing inside of me. So, reality check big time. Mikie loves me inside and out. I could not be more blessed right now and beyond thankful. I love Reality checks. So, this weekend we are going shopping for some new clothes for me. It’s that time and I am sure that will help things as well.
As far as cravings….. Milk, milk, milk! Chocolate milk, and cheese burgers. Wonder why I am having melt downs? HAHAHA! I am on the cereal kick again. Cereal every morning for breakfast. This time it’s Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Kashi Blueberry Crunch. THANK GOD there is a healthy one in there! LOL The interesting thing is that I read at week 15 the babies bones are hardening so the baby demands more calcium! Good things I am listening to my cravings !
I love you Baby Sopczak and Mommy promises to try not to have anymore melt downs.
1st Pregnant Rant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 25, 2010
Yes, this is exactly what the title said it was! I am ranting. If you are easily offended maybe it's best you don't read this. If you are not then please read on. I mean no harm to any certain persons by writing this therefore no names will be mentioned. So this pregnant hormonal chic is about to tell it like it is...well at least from my side!
I have thought about writing a book on Etiquette .... I think it would be titled " Etiquette on dealing with Pregnant Chics". Apparently when you get pregnant it opens doors for just about anything to be said to you. Things are said whether the person has been pregnant before or not! It's like I have a huge sign on me that says "I am Pregnant Please tell me what you think no matter how ugly it may be". Emotional? Not me! Hormonal? Not me! Growing a human inside me and trying to adjust to the daily changes to your body? No freakin way! I'm just pregnant.... say what you want please ! Really.... I am thinking about getting a sign to wear around my neck in flashing neon lights that says " I am pregnant". So if you are out there and feel like you want to tell any pregnant chic how God Awful your labor was, how many stretch marks you have and how big your A** got.....by all means please feel free. I hope if you are reading this you are sensing the sarcasm in my writing! I really do have a smile on my face right now! These are just a few comments that have been made to me so far during my short 14 weeks 3 days of pure bliss pregnancy. (and I stress only a FEW)
- "You know people probably just think you are getting fat and don't know you are pregnant" Oh yes...this was said to my face :) Now that make a pregnant chic feel AWESOME let me tell you. Maybe I should change the sign from Pregnant to FAT A**.
- "How far along are you? Oh...really....well gosh I wasn't showing at all at that time." Really? Do I really give a flying FLIP that you didn't have this beer belly when you were as pregnant as I am right now? NOT REALLY....
-"Oh honey you surely won't be able to keep wearing those heels much longer" SERIOUSLY I am not that far along...and just because the many of you said this I don't care how fat and swollen my feet get and if I have to buy a new pair of heels 3 sizes bigger when I am 8 1/2 months pregnant I will wear my heels and love every minute of it just to spite you :)
-" You know your feet are going to get so fat" Thanks....thanks for the re-assurance. Oh please read my remarks above because I will be wearing heels because of you too :)
-"Why would you work out still while you are pregnant, there's no point" Right... there is NO POINT at all to trying to keep myself healthy and maintain a healthy weight for my unborn child and for me. Damn...I think I may just go eat some donuts while typing the rest of this blog.
-"I had the worst labor ever. So many hours and so much pain" Gosh, Thank You for telling me this. As if I was nervous enough about a possible 7-8 pound human coming out down below now I know that the pain will be so unbearable I will want to die.... as if I didn't know this to begin with.
-"Your body will never be the same" Ahhhh that is so sweet of you to tell me that my Ass will be huge forever and so will my thighs! Oh well maybe you should read a few comments above and get with the person that asked me why I still work out......What's the point right?
-"Your boobs are going to be huge" THANK YOU...and when I say thank you this time I REALLY mean it! At least one thing on my body I don't mind getting big :)
-"You know you shouldn't eat this, this, this or this..." NO SHIT! Raw fish isn't healthy while you are pregnant?!? DUH...and as far as hot dogs and lunch meat ....Um I will do what my DOCTOR tells me is OK. Oh wait....are you a doctor? No...I didn't think so.
-"Eat whatever you want who cares" You and the person above need to hang out and take notes...apparently there is a discrepancy on what to eat and not to eat. When you guys talk get back with me. Oh actually.... don't get back with me because I don't care what you have to say!
Ok....for now I think this is enough. Trust me I really could keep going on and on and on and on. If you are pregnant right now and reading this you would probably give me a high five. If you are not pregnant you may be questioning whether you have ever said one of these things to me or something close. Don't sweat it if you have said something to me like this....really it's all good! I just think it's pretty hilarious that people really do say WHATEVER they think or feel when you are pregnant! I know people would have never said things to me like this when I wasn't pregnant. This is my body, and my baby and trust me after 4 1/2 years of wanting this so badly I would NEVER do anything to harm our child....or myself. And if you really want me to stay healthy and have a healthy pregnancy maybe people should think about your emotional state and your mental health as well. I bet that would keep some mouths closed.
I actually enjoyed writing this blog. I got out my irritations and mean not harm to anyone. I know the people that have said things meant no harm either. But like my Mom always taught me "Think before you speak" That theory also applies when speaking with Pregnant Chics!
Much Love to everyone...and I promise I haven't lost my mind :)

14 weeks
June 22nd
14 weeks!
Wow, 14 weeks already! Missing my baby L Wish I could see him/her.
Father’s Day was Sunday the 20th. I got Mikie a sweet card. His 1st Father’s Day card ever! We went to my parents and had some wonderful food! My parents put a basket together for him containing: Wine, Advil, Candle, Ear Plugs, Cookie and gummies. The wine, ear plugs, advil and candle was totally meant for after the baby arrives! Too funny!!!!! I also had 2 melt downs this weekend/week. Clothing is getting tight people…..So I decided to do a little more shopping. I found some leggings and 3 shirts! None are maternity but totally work as maternity! Leggings are my new best friend!! I have put the belly band to good use this week too. I have been feeling really good. Still battling some dizziness but getting used to dealing with it. Still working out which is good. Energy is back to almost normal. Haven’t had any crazy cravings. Been eating cereal again everyday for breakfast. Just overall happy!!!

13 weeks
June 15th
13 weeks today!!!! I am pretty sad that this is the 1st week I won’t get to see our little one since I no longer have to go every week for an ultrasound. I have to wait until July 7th. I spoke with Becky, Dr. Cone’s nurse, and she said all of my bloodwork from last week came back great. The testing for downs came back great as well! Very good news. We made the appointment to find out the baby’s sex on July 21 at 9am! I can’t believe we have to wait so long!!! But it’s really not that far away! Mikie and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on June 11th. We had a wonderful weekend together. 5 years of marriage, 9 ½ years together, and 4 ½ years of trying for a child. I treasure every moment we have and have had together. I love him so much and I thank God that he blessed us with each other. And now we are going to be a family and we are so very excited!!!
I bought 2 shirts this week that aren’t maternity but can be used as maternity! My pants are starting to get pretty tight. I bought a belly band to help with that soon. I am definitely growing and I keep reminding myself I am growing a baby and not just getting fat!!!!!
As far as food cravings…. Nothing really. Just still wanting red meat. I have been wanting ice cream for a while but this weekend for Father’s Day my sis is making an ice cream cake so that should do the trick!

12 week visit w/ Dr. Cone
June 9th
7am appointment for Down’s testing. Was nice to have the ultrasound from on top of my belly this morning! Baby S was sound asleep! The heartbeat was 152. The ultrasound tech needed to take measurements and was pushing and pressing on my belly to try to wake the baby up! Unlike every other ultrasound when the baby won’t stop moving! Finally the baby move a little bit but that didn’t stop him/her from continuing to sleep! Obviously our little sweet pea wasn’t ready to wake up at 7am! After the ultrasound I went for blood work. 5 big vials of blood…. But I did really well! At this point it was 8am and I didn’t have my appointment with Dr. Cone until 9 so I hung out in the Crave CafĂ© in the medical building. At 9 I saw Dr. Cone. Since I had already had an ultrasound he didn’t do another one. He did however have a serious talk with me that I was not expecting. He tells me my pap smear came back abnormal. He said I have pre-cancerous cells along my cervix area. He went through the fact that 93% of women have normal pap smears and this other little percentage have abnormal. Then he goes on to tell me that there is 2 levels of pre-cancerous cells and I am luckly in the 1st level which is good because its not as bad as the 2nd level. He said something like 1 point something percent of women are in this category. I have to have another pap-smear when I am 6 months pregnant to check on it. He did say that my body could fight off the cells and my next pap-smear could come back just fine. And there is a possibly it could stay the same or get worse. He definitely didn’t sugar coat it but at the same time he didn’t want to freak me out. If it’s the same or worse after I deliver the baby we will decide what to do next. Obviously we won’t do anything while I am pregnant and he assured me this would not harm or affect the baby. So overwhelmed by all the info he said but held back the tears. I talked with the nurses after about my next appointment then spoke to the lady in the financial department to let me know how awesome it is that I am covered at 100% since we have spent sooooooo much $ this year on medical expenses! I just thought I was cool and feeling strong not to cry…. I could call Mikie, who was leaving to Chicago and wouldn’t be home tonight, without a single tear and just talk to him. But as soon as I heard his voice I broke down crying. Which by the way is so not good after you leave the doctors office and you are pregnant! He was so worried. I first finally got out that the baby was just perfect and he relaxed. Then I was able to get out the rest of my visit. He is such an amazing man. So reassuring and comforting even through the phone that even if I wasn’t going to be ok I felt like with him everything was ok. I hated that he had to leave today and we didn’t get to see each other. I can’t wait for him to come home so I could hug him so tight. He was so uplifting and it turned my attitude around. I am just believing in Jesus that my body will fight off these pre-cancerous cells and I will be just fine. So from Cloud 9 to Rock Bottom my emotions have exhausted me. But no worries… I am back on Cloud 9. Nothing will hold me back. We have a beautiful baby to raise ! Thank you Jesus.

12 weeks
June 8th
12 weeks pregnant today! Can’t believe it’s already 12 weeks. Went in for my last ultrasound with Dr. Hadadd. Our little sweet pea was perfect and very active again! He/She is going to really give us a run for our money! It was a sad day leaving the fertility office. My last ultrasound with the staff who have been there every step of the way with us. I was in tears as was the staff. It’s crazy how close you get to people when going through such an intense situation. I promised to keep in tough. And I will for sure. Bittersweet. But the best thing about today is that I got to see our little angel and he/she never ceases to amaze me.
As far as cravings…. They have subsided a bit. Although Casa Ole and Ice cream would be real nice soon! Ear infection is much much better! Although I am still having some off balance issues things are getting better!
